The work of Dutch painter Ronn Kools is influenced by the question if there is a place for the sensitive and vulnerable man in today’s society. After having lived in various countries, over the last few decades, and being part of the LGBTQIA+ community himself, he came to the conclusion that this question is more relevant now than ever.
The men in his work - his friends, lovers, and partners - take proud ownership of their vulnerably. Their fragile state becomes their strength. Ronn Kools’ paintings advocate for more tolerance and acceptance.

"Our paintings are our delayed words.
We paint what we thought we weren't allowed to say when we were kids"
